I built ProtoGT's brand identity from the ground up, creating a cohesive visual system that positioned them as a credible engineering partner, then translating that identity across their website, brand guidelines, and social media presence.

Building a Memorable Visual Language

The engineering and prototyping sector is saturated with impersonal marketing. Corporate blues and technical jargon dominate, creating distance rather than connection. For a bootstrap startup competing against established firms, ProtoGT needed an identity that communicated precision whilst feeling young, energetic, and approachable.

I developed a visual language anchored in light green, symbolising rebirth and growth aligned with the prototyping process. The shade conveys energy and attention to detail. The logomark combines the letters G and T into a single iconic monogram, designed for memorability in a crowded marketplace. This strategic differentiation gave ProtoGT a distinct visual footprint that clients would recognise and remember.

From Guidelines to Growth

After establishing the visual identity, I needed to make sure it stayed consistent across every touchpoint. I developed brand guidelines that covered colours, fonts, and communication style that positioned ProtoGT as part of the client's team, not just another external supplier. Then I designed and built the website, embedding that approachable voice throughout. I learned search optimisation principles as I went, applying them to the site structure and content. ProtoGT now ranks third when people search for prototyping services in Sheffield. The site continues to evolve with case studies and customer testimonials that strengthen the company's credibility.

The website's seen 74% growth in organic search traffic since launch. Clients have given verbal recognition for the brand, specifically mentioning how approachable and memorable it feels.
